Festive Appetizer Spread

1 cup water
1 cup sugar
1 pkg. (12 oz.) cranberries
1/2 cup apricot preserves
2 Tbsp. lemon juice
1/3 cup slivered almonds, toasted
8 oz. cream cheese 

Cook cranberries and sugar in water about 10 minutes, until all berries pop. Cut apricots into small pieces and add to cranberries. Stir in lemon juice. Cool. Add almonds. Spoon over cream cheese. Serve with crackers.
