Italian Bean Bruschetta

1 can (15.8 oz.) great northern beans, rinsed and drained
1 large. ripe tomato, diced
2 Tbsp. chopped fresh basil or 2 tsp. dried basil
2 Tbsp. olive oil
1 clove garlic, minced
1/4 tsp. black pepper or red pepper flakes
24 slices (1/2-inch thick) French or Italian bread, grilled or lightly toasted*

In medium bowl, combine all ingredients except bread; mix well. Spoon mixture on bread and serve. Serves 6.

* Melba toast may be substituted
