Start with the 5 quarts of tomato juice,
but have some extra on hand to dilute the recipe, in case
it turns out too strong for your taste. Put all ingredients
in large kettle and simmer for 4–6 hours. Sample after
an hour or so to see if more juice needs to be added. The
liquid cans well. Chill before use. Add vodka for a snappy
bloody Mary or just drink plain. I’ve used this recipe
for many years.
