Burnt Sugar Cake
2 Tbsp. burnt sugar
1-1/3 cups sugar
1/2 cup butter
2 eggs |
2 cups flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 cup cold water

For burnt sugar, put 1 cup sugar in an iron
saucepan. Heat until well browned, stirring even after it
has turned brown color. Keep stirring until danger of burning
is past before mixture hardens. Add 1/4 cup hot water; cook
mixture until the consistency of thick syrup. Bottle and save
for use when needed for cake. Use 2 Tbsp. burnt sugar mixture;
add rest of ingredients. Mix well. Bake 30 min. at 350 degrees
F. Bake a little longer if you use loaf pan.
