Buttermilk Pound Cake

3 cups sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 cup butter (2 sticks)

2 cups sugar
4 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. lemon extract
1 cup buttermilk |
Sift flour once; measure; and add baking
soda, baking powder, and salt. Sift again. Cream butter and
sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating
well after each addition. Pour into a greased and floured
brown-paper lined 10-inch tube pan and bake in a 350 degree
oven about 1 hour, or until cake tester inserted in the center
comes out clean. Remove from pan. Makes one 10-inch tube cake.
