Coffee Nog
3 large eggs, separated
1 tsp. vanilla
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 cup black coffee
1 cup half & half
1 cup milk
2 Tbsp. sugar |

Ingredients should be well chilled before starting to mix.
In a large bowl, beat 3 egg yolks together with vanilla and
nutmeg. Stir in coffee, half & half, and milk. In a separate
clean, chilled bowl, beat 3 egg whites on medium speed, gradually
adding in sugar until soft peaks form. Do not over mix. Set
aside about 1/2 cup of the meringue and fold remainder into
the milk mixture. Pour into serving glasses and top each with
tablespoon of the reserved meringue. Sprinkle lightly with
nutmeg, if desired. Makes about 1 quart. NOTE: For richer
eggnog, use 2 cups half & half, omit milk.
