Butter and flour 9 x 13-inch baking pan.
Set aside. In small bowl, stir together 1/2 cup flour, baking
powder, and salt. Set aside. In large mixing bowl at high
speed, beat together eggs and sugar until light and fluffy,
about 5 to 10 minutes. Add orange peel and juice. Beat until
well combined. Reduce mixer speed to low. Gradually add
reserved flour mixture, beating just until combined. Stir
in dates and pecans until evenly distributed. Pour into
prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake in preheated 350°
F oven until cake tester inserted near center comes out
clean, about 30 to 35 minutes. Cool in pan 10 minutes. Cut
into 24 bars, about 2 x 2-1/4-inch each. If you like, shake
confectioners’ sugar from a shaker jar or spoon it
through a strainer to dust the tops of the cut bars. Makes
24 bars.
