Frosted Fruit Cookies
Annie Zimmerman, Greenwood

1 cup butter
2 cups brown sugar
2 eggs
5 Tbsp. sour cream
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. baking soda
1 cup chopped dates
1/2 cup chopped raisins
1/2 cup chopped nuts
4 cups flour (approx.)

Mix everything together with mixer or by hand. The dough will be pretty stiff. Chill for a few hours or overnight. Roll dough thin and use a cookie cutter to make round circles. Put on greased cooking or bar pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. These are good with chocolate frosting!

Chocolate Frosting
6 Tbsp. soft butter
1/3 cup cocoa
2-2/3 cups powdered sugar
1/3 cup milk
1 tsp. vanilla Cream butter. Slowly mix in cocoa and powdered sugar. Add milk and vanilla. If icing is too thick, add more milk. If it is too runny, add more powdered sugar. We like to add a bit more cocoa for darker flavor. Frost the cookies once they are cooled.
