  Fruit Cake Squares
Doris Rein, Beloit

2 eggs
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup shortening, melted
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup light molasses
1 cup raisins
1-1/2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. ginger
2 cups mixed candied fruit
1 cup nuts, chopped

Lemon Glaze:
1 cup confectioners sugar
1 Tbsp. soft butter
2 Tbsp. lemon juice

Combine sugar, shortening, eggs, milk, and molasses. Add dry ingredients and beat well. Stir in fruit and nuts. Spread in greased 9x13-inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 40–45 minutes. Mix lemon glaze ingredients and frost the bars while still warm. Cut into bars.
