Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Cream sugar and oleo; add beaten eggs. Mix together and add 2-1/2 cups flour, baking soda, cinnamon, vanilla, and salt; add vanilla. Mix dates, nuts, cherries, pineapple with 1/2 cup flour. Mix into sugar/eggs/flour mixture. Drop cookies onto pan and bake for 15–18 minutes. Do not over-bake.
