Molasses Cookies
Lavaughn Buehl, Janesville

1-1/4 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
6 cups flour*
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ground ginger
1 cup molasses
1 cup sour or buttermilk

Cream shortening and sugar. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well. Roll out and cut into desired shapes. Bake at 350 degrees for 10–12 minutes or until edges are slightly brown. Frost with vanilla icing.

*May use 4 cups flour to make drop cookies.
