My Morning Cake
Marianne Severson, West Allis

Topping
3/4 cup sugar
3 Tbsp. butter
1 Tbsp. flour, heaping
1 tsp. cinnamon

Batter
1/2 cup sugar
3 Tbsp. oil
1 egg
3/4 cup sour milk
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1-1/2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. salt
1-3/4 cup flour

 

Mix all ingredients for the batter and put into a greased 9x13-inch pan. Cover batter with sliced, peeled apples in neat even rows, slightly overlapping. Pour the topping mixture over the apples and bake at 350 degrees for 45–50 minutes.
