6 medium pork hocks
3 slices lean pork steak
2 Tbsp. salt
3/4 Tbsp. pepper
1-1/2 bay leaves
3 onions, chopped
1-1/2 cups vinegar |
Add all ingredients (except vinegar) to a large pot and cover with water; boil 2-1/2 hours, adding the vinegar in the last half hour. Remove the meat and cut into small pieces. Cool broth and remove fat. Note: If broth sets up, just reheat. Add meat; remove bay leaf. You can also add crushed red pepper.
