Oven French Toast
Gloria Johanns, Redgranite

12–15 slices French bread
1 cup milk or half and half
6 eggs
1 cup maple syrup
1 Tbsp. brown sugar
1 Tbsp. vanilla
Dash of salt

Beat together milk or cream, eggs, syrup, brown sugar, vanilla, and salt. Spread half of bread slices in a 9x13-inch pan. Pour half of egg mixture over bread. Repeat with remaining bread and egg mixture. Cover with plastic wrap, pressing down to ensure that all the bread is soaked. Refrigerate overnight. Put slices on an oiled pan and bake in a 400-degree oven for 10 minutes, turn over, and bake another 10 minutes.
