Heat oil in medium saucepan over medium heat. Add onion and garlic; cook, stirring occasionally, for 1 to 2 minutes or until onion is tender. Stir in flour. Gradually stir in evaporated milk and broth. Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture comes to a boil. Add ham, beans, and peas. Heat through. Season to taste with pepper. Makes 6 (1-cup) servings.
Tip: One cup coarsely chopped spinach leaves can be substituted for the peas.
